How to Connect Email (Gmail & Outlook)
Connect Gmail, Outlook, or any IMAP email to SuperSocial MCP and let your AI assistant search, read, and organize your inbox.
Why give your AI access to email?
Email remains the backbone of professional communication. But finding the right thread, tracking attachments, and keeping up with a busy inbox takes real time. SuperSocial MCP connects your email accounts to AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor so they can search, read, and organize your messages on your behalf.
Once connected, your AI can pull up a specific invoice from last quarter, summarize a thread with a client, find every email from a recruiter, or give you a morning briefing of everything that arrived overnight. It works with Gmail, Outlook, and any IMAP-compatible email service.
Email sending via MCP is coming soon. Right now, SuperSocial supports searching, reading, and browsing your email through AI.
What your AI can do with email
SuperSocial exposes four email tools to your AI assistant. Each one maps to a common email task:
search_emails— Search by keywords, filter by sender or recipient, restrict to a date range, or target a specific folder. Your AI can run queries like "find emails from Sarah about the Q3 budget sent last month."read_email— Open and read a specific email in either clean (text-only) or full (HTML-preserved) format. Great for summarizing long threads or extracting details from a specific message.get_email_attachment— Download attachments from any email. Ask your AI to grab the latest PDF a client sent, or pull a spreadsheet from a project update.list_email_folders— Browse your folder structure: inbox, sent, drafts, spam, and any custom folders or labels you have set up.
These tools combine to give your AI assistant read access across your entire mailbox. It can answer questions, compile information, and surface messages you would otherwise have to dig for manually.
Step-by-step: connect your email account
Connecting takes about 60 seconds. You will sign in through your email provider's standard OAuth flow, which means SuperSocial never sees or stores your email password.
1. Log in to your dashboard
Open app.getsupersocial.me/login and sign in with your SuperSocial account. If you do not have one yet, you can create one for free.
2. Add a new account
From your dashboard, click Add Account. You will see the list of supported platforms. Choose Gmail, Outlook, or IMAP depending on your email provider.
3. Sign in with your email provider
A secure OAuth window will open from your provider (Google or Microsoft). Sign in with the email account you want to connect and grant SuperSocial permission to read your messages. For IMAP accounts, you will enter your server details and credentials instead.
4. Done — start using email with AI
Once authenticated, your email account appears in your dashboard. Any AI assistant configured with your SuperSocial MCP server URL can now search and read your email. There is no additional setup needed on the email side.
Practical use cases
Here are a few things you can ask your AI once email is connected:
- "Find every email from Acme Corp in the last 30 days" — uses
search_emailswith sender and date filters to surface the full history. - "Summarize the latest thread with my accountant" — searches for the most recent exchange, reads each message, and produces a concise summary.
- "Download the PDF attachment from the invoice email Jane sent last week" — locates the email, identifies the attachment, and retrieves it.
- "Give me a morning briefing of my inbox" — lists recent emails, reads the important ones, and provides a prioritized overview so you can start your day informed.
- "Check my drafts folder for anything unsent" — lists folders, then searches drafts to find messages you started but never finished.
Because SuperSocial connects all your platforms in one place, your AI can also cross-reference email with LinkedIn, WhatsApp, and other channels. Ask things like "Has this person messaged me on LinkedIn too?" and get a unified picture.
Security and privacy
SuperSocial uses OAuth 2.0 for Gmail and Outlook connections. Your email password is never shared with or stored by SuperSocial. Authentication tokens are encrypted and stored securely on EU-hosted infrastructure. You can revoke access at any time from your email provider's account settings or from the SuperSocial dashboard.

Troubleshooting
OAuth window does not appear
Make sure pop-ups are not blocked in your browser. Some ad blockers or privacy extensions can prevent the OAuth window from opening.
Email account shows as disconnected
OAuth tokens can expire if you change your email password or revoke access from your provider's settings. Re-add the account from the SuperSocial dashboard to reconnect.
IMAP connection fails
Double-check your server address, port, and credentials. Some providers require you to enable IMAP access or generate an app-specific password in their settings before third-party access will work.
