Using SuperSocial MCP with ChatGPT

What You Will Need

ChatGPT added native MCP connector support, which means you can connect SuperSocial directly to ChatGPT and manage your LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, and email conversations without ever leaving the chat window. This guide walks you through the complete ChatGPT MCP setup in under five minutes.

Before you begin, make sure you have the following:

• A ChatGPT Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Edu plan -- MCP connectors are not available on the free or Plus plans
• A SuperSocial account with at least one messaging platform connected -- if you do not have one yet, create a free account and connect a platform first
• A desktop or laptop browser -- the ChatGPT MCP connector is a web-only feature and is not available in the mobile apps

If you are on ChatGPT Plus and considering an upgrade, ChatGPT Pro unlocks MCP connectors along with higher usage limits and access to the latest models.

Step 1: Enable Developer Mode

ChatGPT MCP connectors live behind a toggle called Developer Mode. You need to enable this before the connector settings become visible.

1. Open chatgpt.com in your browser and sign in
2. Click your profile icon in the bottom-left corner and select Settings
3. Navigate to the Apps section in the sidebar
4. Scroll down to Advanced Settings
5. Toggle Developer Mode to ON

Once enabled, a new Connectors section will appear in your settings. If you do not see the Apps section or Advanced Settings, your workspace administrator may need to enable this feature for your organization. Reach out to your admin and ask them to allow MCP connectors for your account.

Step 2: Open the Connectors Page

With Developer Mode active, navigate directly to the connectors configuration page. You can either find it through the settings menu or go straight to this URL:

This page lists all your MCP connectors. If this is your first time here, it will be empty. You are about to change that.

Step 3: Create the SuperSocial Connector

Now you will connect ChatGPT to SuperSocial MCP. Click the button to create a new connector and fill in the following details:

• Name: SuperSocial
• MCP Server URL: https://app.getsupersocial.me/mcp
• Authentication: Select OAuth

Leave the Client ID and Client Secret fields empty. SuperSocial handles authentication through its own login flow, so these fields are not required. ChatGPT will redirect you to sign in with SuperSocial directly.

Make sure you enter the MCP server URL exactly as shown above. A trailing slash or typo will prevent the connection from working.

Step 4: Accept the Safety Warning

After saving the connector, ChatGPT will display a safety warning explaining that MCP connectors allow the AI to interact with external services on your behalf. This is standard behavior for any MCP connector -- it is how ChatGPT confirms you understand the tool will take actions like reading and sending messages.

Click "I understand" to continue. This warning appears once per connector and will not show again.

Step 5: Log In to SuperSocial

ChatGPT will now open a login popup window. This is the SuperSocial authentication flow:

1. A popup window will appear asking for your email address
2. Enter the email you used to create your SuperSocial account
3. Complete the login process (check your email for a sign-in link if prompted)
4. The popup will close automatically once authentication is complete

After the popup closes, ChatGPT now has access to your SuperSocial MCP tools. The connector status should show as connected in your settings.

Start Using SuperSocial in ChatGPT

Your ChatGPT MCP connector is now live. Open a new chat and try one of these prompts to verify everything is working:

• "Show me my recent LinkedIn messages" -- fetches your latest conversations
• "Summarize my unread WhatsApp messages" -- reads and summarizes new messages
• "Draft a reply to the last person who messaged me on LinkedIn" -- composes a response you can review before sending
• "List all my connected messaging accounts" -- confirms which platforms are linked

ChatGPT will ask for your approval before calling any SuperSocial tools. You will see which tool it wants to use and what data it will access, so you always stay in control.

Troubleshooting

Developer Mode is not visible in Settings

If you cannot find the Developer Mode toggle, your ChatGPT plan may not support MCP connectors. Verify that you are on a Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Edu plan. If you are on a supported plan within a workspace, your organization administrator may need to enable Developer Mode for your role. Contact your workspace admin for assistance.

The login popup does not appear

Make sure your browser is not blocking popups for chatgpt.com. Check your browser's popup blocker settings and add an exception if needed. Try disabling any ad-blocking extensions temporarily.

Connector shows as disconnected

Try removing the connector and creating it again from scratch. Double-check that the MCP Server URL is exactly https://app.getsupersocial.me/mcp with no extra characters. If the issue persists, sign out of SuperSocial at app.getsupersocial.me, sign back in, and then re-authenticate the ChatGPT connector.

The safety warning keeps appearing

This is normal for the first connection. If it re-appears on subsequent uses, clear your browser cookies for chatgpt.com and reconnect. The warning is a standard ChatGPT security feature and does not indicate any problem with the SuperSocial connector.
